Metro Money Exchange Sdn Bhd started its operations in 2007 as a licensed importer and exporter of foreign currency and wholesale money changer in Malaysia. Operating under the brand name “Metro Exchange”, it provide the facilities of sale and purchase of foreign currencies to licensed money changers and financial institutions. In March 2011, "Metro Exchange" started its operation in Indonesia, licensed as PT Uda Metro Money Exchange in Padang and Jakarta Indonesia.
Metro Exchange has three clearing centres located in the 3 key cities in Peninsular Malaysia – Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru. The 3 clearing centres are supported by 4 branch offices in the key commercial regions in Peninsular Malaysia – serving its key clientele in the respective areas.
On March 25th 2013, Metro Exchange license under the new Money Services Business Act 2011 was expanded to include retail money changing and remittance service businesses. With the new licenses awarded to Metro Exchange, it started offering foreign remittance services between Malaysian and 136 banks in Indonesia. And as for today we have extended our reach to over 165 countries through our network of over 200,000 global agents including banks and no-banking financial companies.
